BIRDING SAFARIS IN UGANDA

BirdingBirding safaris in Uganda is amazingly a unique experience, which makes Uganda one of the best African Birding Safari destination.

Most birds are commonly found in swamps, forests, lake shore and golf courses and among the commonly sited birds include: Handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Turaco, Montana Night Jar, Dwarf Honey guide, Archer’s Robin Chat, Red Throated Alethe, Kivu ground thrush, Red faced Woodland warbler, Regal and Purple-breasted Sunbirds, Strange Weaver, Lammergeyer, Red-thighed Sparrow hawk, Barred Long-tailed Cuckoo, African Long-eared Owl, Western Green Tinker bird, Olive woodpecker, Golden Winged and Scarlet-tufted Malachite Sun birds and Evergreen Forest and Bamboo Warblers to mention a few.

Day 1-Arrival

Meet and greet at Entebbe International Airport by our professional driver/guide who will warmly welcome you and transfer you to Kampala capital city of Uganda for your overnight stay at Namirembe Guest House or any hotel of your choice.

Day 2-Kampala-Entebbe (Birding)
We begin our birding experience around Botanical Gardens, here you will be able to see various birds including sun birds, weavers, king fishers and later proceed to Lutembe Beach where you will have a glance at the black Herons and the Gulls depending on the season. Return for Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3-Kampala-Mabamba-Lake Mburo
After an early cup of coffee, depart to Mabamba swamp for shoebill stock, purple gallinule, African jacanas plus many more. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park while viewing several bird species including shoebill stock. Check in at Mantana tented Camp for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 4-Game drive-Boat launch

Very early in the morning, proceed for special birding in Lake Mburo amidst game drive. Here you will have a chance to see Impala and Burch ell’s Zebras and Eland. After lunch, proceed for the boat launch in search for the African Fin foot.

Day 5-Lake Mburo-Queen

After breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National park arriving in time for a unique 2 hours boat launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The trip passes through the highest crocodile and hippo concentration, expect to see several water birds like African spoonbill, pin tailed Whydah, African Skimmer and many more. Check in at Simba Camp or Mweya safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6-Nature walk

You will spend this day birding in search for savannah birds in Maramagambo forest, here you will see birds like Tem Mink’s courser, Martial eagle, Ruppeli’s Griffon Vulture. Have lunch break at the crater bird area. Return for Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 7-Game drive-Kampala

Early morning game drive where you will have a chance to see the “big five” like Lions, Elephants, Buffalo and not to miss the Uganda kob. Return to the lodge for breakfast, check out and drive back to Kampala at leisure with a lunch stop in Mbarara.

Day 8-Shopping-Airport transfer

Reserved for shopping and a short city Tour of Kampala the capital City of Uganda and later drive to Entebbe for your flight back home depending on your departure time.

This Safaris offers visists to the main National parks in Uganda including Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National park as well as the main wetlands like Mabamba which are the Important Bird Areas (IBAs) of Uganda.
